Santander have informed us that over the coming weeks, users of their online banking service will be required to confirm or update their contact details.
“It is important to ensure that your details are kept up to date to enable us to contact you about important issues relating to your account or if we need to confirm that a transaction is genuine. We will not use these details to contact you about products and services that may be of interest to you unless you have previously requested that we do so.”
“We recommend that you check your personal details on a regular basis and ensure that any changes to your details are reflected as soon as possible.”
One thing to always remember with online banking – you should never update any personal details until you have successfully logged in and they have confirmed that you are on the genuine Internet Banking site by displaying your unique image & phrase combination.
Banks will never send you an email that asks you to verify your security details or link to Internet Banking. If you receive an email claiming to be from Santander that you are suspicious about, please forward it to phishing@santander.co.uk.
If you’re unsure, have a search through the Weekly Scam Reports or E-mail Scam Alert Service feeds on our homepage.

Santander will have to get a grip with their security.
I have changed ISP therefore IP address changed.
Tried to log in and it did not recognize my computer ie IP had change, no problem with that except it then asked me a question “what is your farthers middle name”. He did not have one and suppose I did not know my father? It gave no other option but that. It then told me to call a number and they would send log in details by post.
How many days would I have to wait for this?
I then tried via their other link “are you on and Internet cafe”, same problem same question.
If I was on holiday say in the USA I would be stuck.
A quite simple answer would be to give more options.
