Barclays have finally joined the other mainstream banks with the first release of their banking smartphone app. This adds an additional channel to it’s existing web-based mobile banking platform, though for some reason has only been released for Android smart phones. The iPhone, Blackberry and Nokia platforms have not had a release, though we would expect something to emerge soon for these.
In essence it does the same as the existing mobile banking web page, but it benefits from a number of extra features and a simpler interface for navigating your accounts.
If you’re a Barclaycard holder, then you’ll benefit from being able to check the balances of your Barclays and Barclaycard accounts in the same place. A quick one-time registration, and you’re up and running.
The new secure log-in gives you simpler access yet retains the same advanced security levels as your normal Online Banking.
The common features are also there to allow you to check the latest balances of your accounts, view your most recent transactions, transfer funds between your accounts, make payments to existing payees and your nearest Barclays branch or ATM.
Current user reviews put the app at 4.3/5, with the main issue being that it will NOT work on rooted phones. You’ll also need at least version 2.2 of the android OS.

Not sure if they mean later that day, week, month, year, decade or what but I shall not be bothering any more 5 weeks is plenty of time for them to sort it out. I will doubtless be dumping any of their services I pay for in the near future too.
