First Direct are one of those rare things in life… A large profitable corporation that its actually quite easy to like. They were one of if not THE first Internet/phone only bank, setting up many years before the likes of IF and Smile back in 1989. Part of the global powerhouse that is HSBC, First Direct has 1.16 Million customers, of which the highest proportion are satisifed with the service compared to any other bank.*

Being the first bank to offer an Internet only bank with no walk in branches, First Direct were ahead of the game but it could be argued this has enabled competitors to learn from their mistakes and deliver a superior product. However as a customer of theirs for some 15 years or so, I have found that they tend to follow the KISS approach and don’t over complicate things. Which suits many people to a tee!

The basic features include:

Up to 6 years worth of statements available online
